J.Law is near to inherit some I-Laws -- 'cause she's freshly engaged ... and not afraid to point out off the ring on a date night along with her groom-to-be.

Jen was noticed flashing her new rock weekday night in NYC whereas grabbing dinner at Raoul's French eating place with art gallerist and soon-to-be-hubby Cooke Maroney -- United Nations agency popped the question when eight months of qualitative analysis. Her rep confirmed they are set to be hitched.

Based on what proportion this issue shines ... one thing tells the U.S. it is an example up shut, and possibly pretty damn huge. And, clearly, she's happy to flaunt it.

This is Jennifer's 1st engagement when some terribly public relationships within the recent past. She dated 'X-Men' costar St. Nicholas Hoult for a couple of years, and was last connected to director Darren Aronofsky ... with whom she conjointly worked in 2017's "Mother!"

She was reportedly introduced to Cooke this past summer through her pal, Laura Simpson, and has been going sturdy with him behind the scenes since then.
